Our Farms, Our Food, Our Future

The Ministry of Natural Resources, Agrifoods recently released its much anticipated strategy document called Our Farms, Our Food, Our Future. This strategy will guide agricultural activities in the province in years to come.

As consumers and champions of local food, there is a lot for us to think about and look forward to in this document. Of particular note are sections related to food security and developing a reliable local food supply, support for new and young farmers, protection of agricultural lands, and sustainable environmental practices.

Root Cellars Rock would like to encourage you to make yourself aware of the province’s agricultural plans and then do your part as an individual to help them come into reality. NL can and should have a food system that ensures access to healthy food for all and everyone that eats has a role to play.
