St. John’s Farmers’ Market Manager Position

Responsible to the St. John’s Farmers’ Market Board of Directors, the St. John’s Farmers’ Market Manager plays an integral role in the operation of the farmers’ market. The individual in the position is responsible for the week to week operations of the market, including but not limited to working with market vendors and other internal and external stakeholders. The Market Manager also works closely with the Board.

The provincial Harvest Celebration last weekend was a great success! But that certainly doesn’t mean that the agricultural community is taking a break now. Producers, farmer’s markets and community gardens province-wide are bustling with their harvests, and fall fair organizers are busy putting together many more events. Agricultural Celebrations across Newfoundland & Labrador!

Save the dates of Sept. 16-19 if you’re in the Torbay area because you’re not going to want to miss the provincial Agrifoods & Garden Show 2010 Harvest Celebration! This annual event showcases NL’s agricultural merits with fall fair activities, a farmer’s market, petting farm, healthy cooking displays, and booths from organizations across the province. Keep an eye out there for the NL Agricultural Historical Society showcasing root cellars! Check out the poster for the event here:

Farmers’ Markets: Increasing Local Food Production & Consumption

This past weekend was an exciting one – Saturday, June 6th, 2009 marked the first Farmers’ Market of the second season for the St. John’s Farmers’ Market, and the first Farmers’ Market of the first season for the West Coast Farmers’ Market in Corner Brook .
